About Me:Hi! I'm Jennifer Covert. I am a junior UNCW student that is pursuing a degree in Mathematics and a Secondary Education Teaching License.
I am a math nerd, with a passion for education. I created this website to showcase a unit plan I make for a Pre-Calculus trig unit. UNCW Homepage |
|
Overview:This unit starts with a review of right triangle trigonometry from geometry and connects it to the idea of the unit circle. Students will learn the concepts behind the unit circle and then connect those ideas to the graphs of trigonometric functions. Then by connecting new ideas about the graphs of trigonometric functions to previous knowledge about graphing equations, students will learn how to graph equations that contain trig functions. They will also practice writing an equation when they are given a graph. From here we will transition into trigonometric identities. Students will learn the different ways they can use the identities to algebraically simplify trigonometric equations. They will practice how to prove an identity as well as recognizing how to best apply them to simplify equations.
